Built around 1050, the château of the Barons of Vitré was ex-tended in the 13th century by André III and surrounded by a triangular enclosure with 3 angle towers. It was rebuilt in the early 15th century by Guy XII and Jeanne de Laval-Châ-tillon and underwent many transformations between the 16th and 19th centuries.
