Situated in the heart of Ille-et-Vilaine, Lake Trémelin is ideally located for staying (camp site or furnished holiday accommodation) and discovering the riches of Brocéliande, Rennes and Brittany.

A natural unspoilt site at the heart of Brocéliande…

Trémelin Lake is at the heart of Brocéliande, a few minutes from Merlin’s tomb and the Gate of Secrets. It is an unspoilt natural area in the middle of a forest, ideal for walking. In July and August, a developed beach is open for safe swimming in excellent quality water. There are around 10 trails that are accessible from Trémelin Lake : a family walk accessible with a pushchair, a day’s hike, a cycling discovery circuit, mountain bike trails and horse-riding circuits. There is something for everyone.

Leisure and discovery for the entire family

Trémelin Lake is free to access and proposes activities for the whole family, all year round: contemporary art exhibitions at l’aparté, fishing initiation classes, night-time carp fishing, sports events (trail, horse-riding competition, canoe/kayak competition, etc.), horse-riding classes, etc. You can also enjoy tree climbing, discover the fauna and flora, or simply relax in this unique environment.


There are many signposted pedestrian circuits starting from and around Trémelin Lake.

  • 3 circuits lead directly to Vallon de la Chambre au Loup, the archaeological site of Domaine de Boutavent or the natural area of Domaine de Careil.
  • The GR® de Pays Le Tour de Brocéliande takes you to discover Montfort-sur-Meu, which has the Small Town of Character label. Be ready for a 10 km walk!
  • Around the Lake : a family walk to enjoy nature. 5 kilometres and about 1 hour of walking.
  • 8 geocaching routes with the Trésors de Haute Bretagne app on the site of the lake and its surrounding area

Have you still got energy ?

  • 2 mountain bike circuits leave from the lake and you can hire mountain bikes by the hour or for half a day.
  • Many bridleways leave from the lake to discover the forest of Trémelin and Vallon de la Chambre au Loup on horseback.
